Softball Recap: Buckingham Charter Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Buckingham Charter came tearing into Tuesday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Faith Christian Lions get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Haley Griffin made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tamia Cendejas was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Juliette Spencer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Buckingham Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Christian only posted an OBP of .056.

Buckingham Charter pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Faith Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Buckingham Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-2 win against Valley Christian on the 28th. As for Faith Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 19-8 loss against Foresthill on the 24th.
