The New Hartford Spartans will challenge the Ironton Fighting Tigers at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Monday, New Hartford didn't have quite enough to beat Rome Free Academy and fell 5-4.
Addie Way was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Norah Galiulo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Ironton entered their tilt with James Monroe on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Mavericks 11-2. Considering the Fighting Tigers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Bihl and Miley Bias made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bihl pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Bias tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bihl has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Bihl went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Bias went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave Bihl a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ironton got a big performance out of Khamil Martin, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Ferguson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Ironton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.
Ironton's record is now 13-3. As for New Hartford, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
