Football Recap: Van Alstyne Starts off Right with Win over Life Waxahachie + How To Watch

Van Alstyne had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the Life Waxahachie Mustangs to the tune of 54-13. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Mustangs are ranked 925th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dylan Barron was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 313 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 67 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Van Alstyne didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Barron and Connor Amaro.

Coming up, Van Alstyne will challenge Alvarado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Life Waxahachie, they will face off against Canton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
