Football Recap: Van Alstyne Panthers vs. Life Waxahachie Mustangs
Van Alstyne had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past the Life Waxahachie Mustangs to the tune of 54-13 on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-0.
Dylan Barron was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 313 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Van Alstyne proved: they limited Life Waxahachie to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. The Panthers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.
