Football Recap: Van Alstyne Starts Season with Victory Against Life Waxahachie + How To Watch

Van Alstyne had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past the Life Waxahachie Mustangs to the tune of 54-13 on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-0.

Dylan Barron was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 313 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Van Alstyne proved: they limited Life Waxahachie to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. The Panthers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.

Van Alstyne didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Barron and Connor Amaro.

Although Life Waxahachie took the loss, they still got scores from Kamarion Pearson and Da'Corey Jackson.

Looking ahead, Van Alstyne will challenge Alvarado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Life Waxahachie, they will square off against Canton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
