Volleyball Recap: Mapleton Takes a Loss

Mapleton was the 3-1 winner over Black River when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mounties lost 3-0 to the Pirates on Saturday. The Mounties have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Mapleton was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Black River's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-23.

Mapleton's offense was headlined by Addison Hess and Aubree Hess, who picked up seven kills apiece. Addison really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 12.

Mapleton's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Black River, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mapleton will welcome Western Reserve at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Black River, they will host Firelands at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
