Softball Recap: Williston Triumphs

Williston lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Forest, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Mighty Red Devils' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mighty Red Devils.

The result came thanks to Emily Asencion's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luna Asencion, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Bertrand, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Williston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Williston now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Forest, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-6.

Coming up, Williston will take on Fort White at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mighty Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Forest, they will host North Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.13 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
