Volleyball Recap: Argonia Raiders vs. Attica Bulldogs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Argonia had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Attica Bulldogs , sneaking past 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders who have now won six matchups in a row.
Argonia had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-16, 25-23.
Autumn Coleman paced Argonia's offense, picking up 13 kills. Coleman got some help from
Kara Jones and her 33 assists.
Lakelyn Love controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Loss or not, Attica got some senior leadership from Chloe Traffas and Zoie Redgate. Traffas had 17 digs, 11 kills, and three aces, while Redgate had 14 kills, ten digs, and a block. Those 11 kills set a new season-high mark for Traffas. Another player making a difference was Baylee Ricke, who had 14 digs, two kills, and a block.
Argonia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 37-6 record this season. As for Attica, with the defeat, they broke their 13-game winning streak and moved their record to 37-5.
Argonia's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wheatland-Grinnell at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Wheatland-Grinnell will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something Argonia surely won't give up without a fight. Attica does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
