Basketball Recap: Quaker Valley Quakers vs. Avonworth Antelopes

The Quaker Valley Quakers waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 55-54 victory over Avonworth. The win was all the more spectacular given Quaker Valley's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Antelopes are ranked 96th).

Quaker Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Coyle, who scored 25 points. Coyle hasn't dropped below 18 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Zach Washington, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.

Quaker Valley's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8.
