Recap: Green Canyon Wolves vs. Fremont Silverwolves
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Green Canyon Wolves ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 45-44 photo finish over Fremont. The win was familiar territory for Green Canyon who now have three in a row.
Green Canyon found their leader in underclassman Talyssa Nelson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. That's the first time this season that Nelson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Tori Jeppson, who scored seven points.
When it comes to explaining why Fremont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kale Brian. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Brian pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Christensen, who scored two points along with six rebounds.
Green Canyon's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Green Canyon's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Layton Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Asmin Tanhan and Janalynn Blotter. Fremont will finish 2023 at home by hosting Bountiful at 12:15 p.m. on December 29th. Bountiful is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.9 points per game.
