Softball Recap: Warsaw Find Success

Warsaw hadn't beaten Plymouth on the road since April 23, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Pilgrims/Rockies 8-6. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 6-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kaitlyn O'Dell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Raegan Robinson and Mia Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Robinson went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Rodriguez went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Robinson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addyson Sainer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Warsaw kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Warsaw and bumps their season record up to 7-9. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Plymouth, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.

Warsaw will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pilgrims/Rockies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
