Football Recap: New Castle Beats Montour for Their Fifth Straight Victory + How To Watch

New Castle hadn't done well against Montour recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hurricanes put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 34-14 win. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Marino Graham, who rushed for 149 yards and four TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for 161 yards and one touchdown. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something New Castle proved: they limited Montour to a paltry 1.3 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Mason Cook stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made six total tackles (4.0 for loss). New Castle didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.

New Castle didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Gianni Molina, Travis Whetzel, and Kai Cox picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Montour's side was Cook, who picked up a sack and made six total tackles (4.0 for loss).

The victory was the fifth in a row for New Castle, bringing their record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.4 points over those games. As for Montour, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Castle will host West Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montour, they will welcome Ambridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will be up against the Bridgers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.57 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
