Baseball Recap: Benton Comes Up Short

Benton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 8-3 to the Nashville Hornets. If the Rangers were looking for revenge after losing 10-9 to the Hornets when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Peyton Robinson put in work no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Kyle Thomas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Benton's record is now 4-10. As for Nashville, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Benton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 4-3 defeat against Frankfort on the 14th. As for Nashville, they will be playing at home against DuQuoin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
