Basketball Game Preview: Carrollton Warriors vs. Buckeye Valley Barons

The Carrollton Warriors will take on the Buckeye Valley Barons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Carrollton sitting on five straight victories and Buckeye Valley on 15.

Carrollton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 37-29 win over Morgan. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Raiders are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Buckeye Valley won against Eastmoor Academy on Tuesday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Buckeye Valley came out on top against London by a score of 49-37.

Carrollton better keep an eye on Ella Hazelrigg. She was instrumental in Buckeye Valley's win, almost dropping a double-double with 22 points and nine boards. The game was Hazelrigg's third in a row with at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Avelina Wagner, who posted 11 points along with six assists and three steals.

Buckeye Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Carrollton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points over those games. As for Buckeye Valley, their record is now 24-2.
