Softball Game Preview: Aucilla Christian Warriors vs. Lafayette Hornets

Aucilla Christian and Lafayette are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Aucilla Christian Warriors will host the Lafayette Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lafayette took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Aucilla Christian, who comes in off a win.

Aucilla Christian was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Rickards last Thursday. Everything went Aucilla Christian's way against Rickards as Aucilla Christian made off with a 21-5 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Harli Ray was incredible, firing off two home runs, five runs, and six RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Avery Emerick was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple.

Aucilla Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rickards only posted an OBP of .417.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Lafayette was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to Branford. The Hornets have struggled against the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.

Lafayette saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clara Knight, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Aucilla Christian, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Aucilla Christian took their win against Lafayette when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0. Will Aucilla Christian repeat their success, or does Lafayette have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
