Basketball Recap: Peninsula Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Peninsula Catholic hadn't done well against Norfolk Collegiate recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Peninsula Catholic Knights walked away with an 82-72 win over the Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks. The victory was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Peninsula Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylen Wynn, who posted 28 points. The match was Wynn's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Justin Hunter was another key player, putting up 20 points.

Norfolk Collegiate lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shane Harris, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Mills, who went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points.

Peninsula Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Norfolk Collegiate, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.

Peninsula Catholic will look to defend their home court on Friday against Steward at 7:00 p.m. Peninsula Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Steward likes a good challenge. As for Norfolk Collegiate, they will head out to square off against Walsingham Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Norfolk Collegiate is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.
