Basketball Game Preview: St. Michael Catholic Cardinals vs. Orange Beach Makos

St. Michael Catholic and Orange Beach are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2020, but not for long. The St. Michael Catholic Cardinals will challenge the Orange Beach Makos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, St. Michael Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to Baldwin County. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Tigers are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, Orange Beach didn't have quite enough to beat Escambia County on Tuesday and fell 53-50. The Makos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Orange Beach's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for St. Michael Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

St. Michael Catholic skirted past Orange Beach 37-34 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Will St. Michael Catholic repeat their success, or does Orange Beach have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
