Basketball Recap: Montevallo Takes a Loss

Montevallo and Selma squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Montevallo had to settle for second. They were dealt a 76-18 defeat at the hands of the Selma Saints. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-5.

Selma's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jykierra Oliver, who went 12 for 20 en route to 27 points in addition to 12 assists and 12 steals. The match was Oliver's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rod?Neisha Parker, who went 13 of 32 on her way to 29 points along with seven boards and seven steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Montevallo and nudges their season record down to 2-25. As for Selma, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.

Montevallo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Selma, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Jemison at 5:00 p.m. Selma is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.
