Softball Recap: Auburn Takes a Loss

Auburn had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it six. They lost 18-0 to the Mt. Rainier Rams. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 27-21 to the Rams when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Mt. Rainier, they moved to 4-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Mt. Rainier's part, Sydney Young was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Young was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Kendall Parker was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Miley Garrison was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

While Auburn had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
