Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Patriots vs. Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles

The Lincoln Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Tuesday, Lincoln didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Jefferson, but they still walked away with a 68-63 win. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Cavaliers are ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Aberdeen Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They rang in the new year with a 57-49 victory over Yankton on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Eagles as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Aberdeen Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Lincoln took their victory against Aberdeen Central when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 65-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
