Softball Recap: Madison Southern Takes a Loss

Madison Southern's last matchup with Somerset could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Monday. The Eagles lost 14-6 to the Briar Jumpers. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Anna Kate Cress made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Madelyn Tyree also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Madison Southern's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Somerset, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison Southern will square off against West Jessamine at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Somerset, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Garrard County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
