Baseball Recap: Horizon Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Horizon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Notre Dame Prep Saints. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted against the Saints since March 25, 2019.

Connor McDonald tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Colten Figueroa was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Horizon has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. This is the second loss in a row for Notre Dame Prep and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Horizon will venture away from home to challenge Pinnacle at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Notre Dame Prep, they will host Canyon View at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
