Madison and Steele Canyon are an even 4-4-2 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. Madison will be taking part in a tournament against Steele Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Madison will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Madison made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Santana, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Madison never let Santana get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Monday. Considering the Warhawks have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Jeremiah Jennings, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Santana off the board. Furthermore, Jennings didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leo Wilderman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ryan Jackson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Wilderman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Madison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Steele Canyon didn't have quite enough to beat Christian on Tuesday and fell 6-4.
Steele Canyon also got a good showing from Dylan Knopov, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Knopov has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Steele Canyon saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonah Arens, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Arens a new career-high.
Madison's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Steele Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Steele Canyon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Madison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for Steele Canyon, though, as they've only averaged .214. Will they be able to contain Madison's hitters?
Madison took their win against Steele Canyon when the teams last played on March 5th by a conclusive 11-1. Does Madison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Steele Canyon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
