Football Recap: Alcovy Comes Up Short

Alcovy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were outmatched by the Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs and fell 57-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 42-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Trey Bryant threw for 69 yards on six of 21 attempts. Kendrick Henderson was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards.

As for Winder-Barrow, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3. That 50 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Marquon Gresham and Demetrius Dowdy. Gresham rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries while Dowdy rushed for 122 yards and one score on only ten carries. Dowdy is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Westley Booth, who threw for 156 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes.

Alcovy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 59-6 loss against Jackson County on the 25th. As for Winder-Barrow, they have also already played their next matchup, a 35-21 defeat against Habersham Central on the 26th.
