The Bloomington North Cougars will take on the Noblesville Millers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bloomington North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Bloomington North is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Martinsville just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Artesians, falling 13-7.
Grayson Gill and Jocelyn Parrish stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gill got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Parrish went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Parrish has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keylee Taylor, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Noblesville strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Lawrence North 11-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Addison Retzinger spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bella Hughes was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Delaney Rundle was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Noblesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.
Noblesville pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bloomington North, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Bloomington North has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Noblesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits.
