Baseball Recap: Red Lion Comes Up Short

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Red Lion was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Oxford Colonials. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colonials apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ben Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Red Lion saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Regan Koons, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Red Lion has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. As for New Oxford, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Red Lion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Oxford, they will take on East Pennsboro at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Colonials 3.5, the Panthers 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
