Imperial Valley recap Oct. 23, 2012
Brawley extended the longest winning streak in Imperial Valley this week by beating Palo Verde Valley, 62-6. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Wildcats.
Imperial's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Carter threw for 100 and one touchdown and DeJon Wilson had 52 yards receiving. On the ground Royce Freeman chipped in 236 yards. DaJon Staton helped Imperial's passing attack out by catching three balls for 23 yards.
Imperial's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carter has thrown for 776 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Staton has 16 catches for 312 yards. Freeman leads the league in rushing with 1668 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on Central. As it stands, Imperial is in second, while the Spartans are in fourth.
Kerry Legarra's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,698 from 3,059. The advance stemmed from a 48-7 victory over Calexico last week.
