Baseball Recap: Durango Trailblazers vs. Shadow Ridge Mustangs
Durango extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 7-14. They came up short against the Shadow Ridge Mustangs, falling 13-3. The Trailblazers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.
Jackson Trantham was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
As for Shadow Ridge, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Shadow Ridge's side, they got a great performance from Spencer Walters as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Walters a new career-high.
At the plate, Brayden Leavitt was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Noble, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Durango will head out on the road to challenge Sierra Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Shadow Ridge, they will welcome Las Vegas at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
