Football Game Preview: Doddridge County Bulldogs vs. Braxton County Eagles

The Doddridge County Bulldogs will challenge the Braxton County Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Doddridge County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Doddridge County got the win against South Harrison by a conclusive 34-8. Considering the Bulldogs have won five games by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Doddridge County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brysen Dixon, who threw for 224 yards and four TDs on only 19 passes. That's the most passing yards Dixon has posted since back in November of 2024. Lyric Blake helped Dixon out on the ground, rushing for 99 yards and one score, while also catching one touchdown.

Doddridge County's run defense was locked in: South Harrison could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Brycen Eidel for the heroic effort on defense: he. That's the most yards per carry they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Braxton County suffered their closest defeat since September 6, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Buffalo by a score of 19-16.

Despite the loss, Braxton County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Logan Payne rushed for 152 yards and one TD while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those 152 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Payne.

Even if they lost, Braxton County's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Landon Helmick: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles.

Doddridge County's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Braxton County, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
