Baseball Game Preview: Quartz Hill Royals vs. Poly Parrots

The Quartz Hill Royals will take on the Poly Parrots in a tournament on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Quartz Hill took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Camarillo. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Royals have posted since February 24, 2025.

Parker White got the start for Quartz Hill and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Matthew Esparza picked up the save, tossing one inning while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayden Smoot, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Poly narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Agoura 5-4.

The victory got Quartz Hill back to even at 1-1. As for Poly, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Quartz Hill's way against Poly when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Quartz Hill made off with a 7-1 victory. Do the Royals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Parrots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
