Baseball Game Preview: Upper Arlington Golden Bears vs. Avon Eagles

The Upper Arlington Golden Bears will challenge the Avon Eagles at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Upper Arlington is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since May 1, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Dublin Coffman by a score of 11-9.

Meanwhile, Avon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Berea-Midpark. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.

Avon got a good showing from Jensen Petro, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Petro has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jason Gillespie made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Baron Eberly, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Upper Arlington, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.
