Basketball Game Preview: Ash Fork Spartans vs. Seligman Antelopes

The Ash Fork Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Seligman Antelopes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Seligman took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ash Fork, who comes in off a win.

Ash Fork is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since January 24, 2024 on Friday. They blew past Mayer 45-24. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Spartans have posted against the Wildcats since January 18, 2019.

Josue Tellez was nothing short of spectacular: he almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Ayala, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Seligman's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 69-54 to Joseph City.

With the victory, Ash Fork broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11. As for Seligman, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-6.

Ash Fork took a serious blow against Seligman when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 73-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Seligman's Carmelo Manakaja, who shot 7-for-12 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 43 points and 12 boards.
