Basketball Recap: Family Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Family Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 38-8 takedown of The Classical Academy of Sarasota last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Family Christian Academy Mustangs were outmatched by Gulf Coast HEAT and fell 48-13. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with Gulf Coast HEAT: they've now lost five in a row.

Gulf Coast HEAT found their leader in sophomore Kenna Baker, who posted 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Tuccy, who had 12 points.

Family Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gulf Coast HEAT, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Family Christian Academy will take on Gateway Charter in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gateway Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. Gulf Coast HEAT and Excel Christian Academy will round out the year against one another at at 2:10 p.m. on December 27th. Gulf Coast HEAT's defense has only allowed 23.2 points per game this season, so Excel Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
