Volleyball Recap: Salem Hills Skyhawks vs. Maple Mountain Golden Eagles
If Salem Hills was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Springville last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Skyhawks fell 3-1 to the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.
While Salem Hills ultimately came up short, they really made Maple Mountain work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 19-25, 25-16, 27-25.
Kaycee Van Horn paced Salem Hills' offense, picking up nine kills. Van Horn got some help from Evee Schaerrer and her 26 assists. Brielle Hofheins controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Salem Hills has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season. As for Maple Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
