Basketball Recap: Martinsville Triumphs

Martinsville proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 54) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Joaquin Rams out 45-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since November 21, 2023.

Martinsville's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Joaquin, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing San Augustine the next time they take the court. Joaquin will head out to face San Augustine at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, while Martinsville will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
