Baseball Game Preview: Zimmerman Thunder vs. Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets

The Zimmerman Thunder will head out on the road to challenge the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Zimmerman is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Zimmerman nor Chisago Lakes Area made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Thunder fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Thunder have lost by just one run.

Hank Olson spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

At the plate, Zimmerman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Hartigan, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Hartigan has hit this season.

Becker hit Cambridge-Isanti with a six-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bluejackets came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 14-0. The Bluejackets haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Cambridge-Isanti's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Zimmerman, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Zimmerman might still be hurting after the 28-0 defeat they got from Cambridge-Isanti in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Thunder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
