Basketball Recap: Da?Kyrious Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Charleston over Woodland

After flying high against Scott County Central last Thursday, Charleston came back down to earth. The Charleston Bluejays took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Woodland Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Cardinals are ranked 18th).

Several Bluejays players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Da?Kyrious Williams, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshaun Henderson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Charleston now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Woodland, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Charleston won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bell City at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. After both having extra time off, Woodland and Richland will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
