Baseball Game Preview: Olentangy Berlin Bears vs. Hilliard Darby Panthers

For the second straight game, Olentangy Berlin will face off against Hilliard Darby. The Bears are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Olentangy Berlin was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hilliard Darby 3-2.

For Hilliard Darby's part, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Gilkerson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Gilkerson also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Hilliard Darby and nudges their season record down to 2-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Olentangy Berlin, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Olentangy Berlin came out on top in a nail-biter against Hilliard Darby in their previous meeting on Monday, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
