Basketball Preview: Ballou Knights vs. Coolidge Colts
Ballou has been on the road for three straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Coolidge Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ballou will be strutting in after a victory while the Colts will be coming in after a defeat.
Ballou can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They put the hurt on Ron Brown with a sharp 51-29 win.
Taevon Deal had a dynamite game for Ballou, dropping a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Deal also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Martin, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Coolidge unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 70-50 walloping at the hands of Jackson-Reed. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coolidge in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Ballou is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Coolidge, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.
Ballou was able to grind out a solid win over the Colts in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 55-48. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Coolidge's Lafayette Williams, who scored 26 points. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Ballou to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
