Preview: Osawatomie Trojans vs. Uniontown Eagles

The Osawatomie Trojans's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Uniontown Eagles at 8:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Osawatomie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.

Last Thursday, Osawatomie came up short against Burlington and fell 52-45. While losing is never fun, Osawatomie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Burlington is ranked 76th).

Despite their loss, Osawatomie saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jasper Sallee, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Tucker Fennel was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Osawatomie struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Uniontown came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Altoona-Midway with points to spare, taking the game 54-40.

Osawatomie's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-5. As for Uniontown, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Osawatomie came out on top in a nail-biter against Uniontown in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, sneaking past 51-49. Will Osawatomie repeat their success, or does Uniontown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
