Baseball Game Preview: David Anderson Blue Devils vs. Jefferson County Christian Royals

The David Anderson Blue Devils will square off against the Jefferson County Christian Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

David Anderson fell victim to East Palestine and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Bulldogs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Jefferson County Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Bridgeport on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. It was the first time this season that the Royals let down their fans at home.

Jefferson County Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lee Gump, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Jefferson County Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for David Anderson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. David Anderson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jefferson County Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went David Anderson's way against Jefferson County Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as David Anderson made off with a 28-2 win.
