Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Mitchell Kernels

The Roosevelt Rough Riders are taking a road trip to face off against the Mitchell Kernels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Roosevelt has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Mitchell will arrive with three straight wins.

Roosevelt came into this matchup off a tough 24-point defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Rapid City Central by a score of 46-43 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mitchell). They strolled past Yankton with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-36. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Mitchell now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Roosevelt couldn't quite get it done against Mitchell in their previous matchup back in January of 2025 as they fell 49-41. Can the Rough Riders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
