Basketball Game Preview: L'Anse Creuse Lancers vs. Lake Shore Shorians

The L'Anse Creuse Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Lake Shore Shorians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

L'Anse Creuse is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Fitzgerald on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. L'Anse Creuse took a blow against Fitzgerald, falling 58-30. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

L'Anse Creuse's defeat came about despite a quality game from Alexa Maracle, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds. Maracle continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Tuladziecki, who earned eight points.

Even though they lost, L'Anse Creuse smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Lake Shore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against St. Clair, falling 40-19. While losing is never fun, the Shorians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 580th, while the Saints are ranked 185th).

Lake Shore's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for L'Anse Creuse, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

L'Anse Creuse came up short against Lake Shore in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 43-37. Can L'Anse Creuse avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
