Baseball Recap: Westlake Takes a Loss

Westlake had lost ten straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-17 to make it 11. They lost 8-1 to the Lone Peak Knights. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Knights this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-1 loss on Wednesday.

Westlake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jensen Campbell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that Campbell has snagged this season.

As for Lone Peak, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Lone Peak's side, Grady Slesk was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Slesk a new career-high. Jordan Tucker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Westlake will face off against American Fork at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavemen have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Lone Peak, they will challenge Pleasant Grove at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
