Softball Recap: McLean County Cougars vs. Ohio County Eagles
McLean County extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-5-1 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Ohio County Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in March.
As for Ohio County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
For Ohio County's part, they got a great performance from Emma Messmann (2027) as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Messmann (2027) a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Talynn Clark (2026) was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Brylie Keown (2028) was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Looking ahead, McLean County will host Hopkinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ohio County, they will head out to take on Trinity at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
