Softball Game Preview: Cambria-Friesland Hilltoppers vs. Waukesha North Northstars

The Cambria-Friesland Hilltoppers are taking a road trip to take on the Waukesha North Northstars at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cambria-Friesland has 11 straight wins, Waukesha North has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Cambria-Friesland's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Montello 14-0. Cambria-Friesland might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Enya Heller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Janell Villarreal was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Madelyn Evans was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Cambria-Friesland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Oconomowoc hit Waukesha North with a seven-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Northstars lost 10-2 to the Raccoons.

Cambria-Friesland's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Waukesha North, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
