Baseball Recap: Smithsburg Wins Going Away Against Hancock

Smithsburg won the last time they faced Hancock and things went their way on Thursday too. The Leopards were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Panthers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Leopards.

George Mantz was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Smithsburg is 4-1 when Mantz posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Oates, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Smithsburg's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Hancock, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Looking ahead, Smithsburg will square off against Brunswick at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hancock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
