Softball Recap: Wartburg Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Wartburg Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Oliver Springs, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. Wartburg Central was the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over Oliver Springs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three matches by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Wartburg Central let Maeve Hudson and Katelyn Rayfield run wild. Hudson went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Rayfield scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Rayfield has posted since back in May of 2024. Taylor Collins was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

With the win, Wartburg Central broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for Oliver Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Looking ahead, Wartburg Central will challenge Oneida at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oneida has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.63 runs per game on average), something Wartburg Central will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oliver Springs, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Oliver Springs Bobcats face off against Sunbright Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
