Baseball Recap: Edinburgh Find Success

Edinburgh and Crothersville pushed the score to 15-7 the last time they played Crothersville, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Lancers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Tigers. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Avynn Whitaker made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Silas Cooney was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Edinburgh's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Crothersville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Edinburgh will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
