Basketball Recap: Ashbrook Falls to Bessemer City in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Ashbrook kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets, falling 53-31. The Greenwave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Ashbrook lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Samaria Lomick, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Arianna McDowell, who put up six points along with seven boards and five steals.

Bessemer City's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Ashbrook will face off against Berry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bessemer City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Forestview at 6:00 p.m.
