Baseball Recap: Medford Tech Has No Trouble Against Camden

It was a proper cat-fight when Medford Tech duked it out with Camden on Monday. The Jaguars blew past the Panthers 12-2.

David Giallella was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Medford Tech is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Giallella was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other pitching news, Miguel Torres tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

Back at the plate, Jacob Inman was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Medford Tech is undefeated when Inman posts three or more RBI, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Michael Simmons, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Medford Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Medford Tech's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Camden, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medford Tech will head out to challenge Holy Cross at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.16 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Camden, they are taking a road trip to take on Pennsauken Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
